1. About these terms
These terms apply when you book a car through this website. The car hire service is provided by R3ntal Central (company number 12345678), 58 Peregrine Rd, Ilford IG6 3SZ ("we", "us").
When you book, you also sign a hire agreement for your specific hire. The hire agreement sets out the detailed terms for that hire. If anything in these terms conflicts with your hire agreement, the hire agreement applies.
2. Who can hire
To hire a car, the main driver and any additional drivers must:
- meet the minimum age for the car, which can differ between cars and is checked when you book;
- hold a full photocard driving licence that is valid for the whole hire;
- provide a DVLA check code so we can check their licence; and
- meet any other requirements we tell you about before you book.
Drivers under our young driver age pay a young driver surcharge, which is included in the price shown when you enter the driver's age. We may need to approve some drivers before confirming a booking.
We can refuse a hire if a driver does not meet these requirements or if their licence check is not satisfactory.
3. Booking and confirmation
You need an account to book. When you start a booking, the car is held for you for 60 minutes. If you do not complete the booking in that time, the hold lapses.
Your booking is received once you have signed your hire agreement and paid the booking deposit and security deposit. It is confirmed once we have checked your licence and told you it is approved. Until then, we may cancel the booking and refund what you have paid if we cannot approve the hire.
4. Prices and payment
The price for your hire is the price shown when you book. It is worked out from the car's rates for your dates and includes any young driver surcharge, extras and promo code discount.
- Booking deposit: 50% of the hire price, paid when you book. It counts towards the hire price.
- Balance: the rest of the hire price, payable before you collect the car. The car cannot be released until the balance is paid.
- Security deposit: a fixed amount for each car, paid when you book and refunded after the car is returned and inspected, less any amounts we are entitled to keep under section 8.
5. Changes to your booking
You can ask us to change your booking, for example its dates, to extend it or to add a driver. Changes depend on availability and are only made once we confirm them. A change may alter the price, and an arrangement fee may apply to changes made after your booking is confirmed.
6. Cancellation
To cancel, contact us. How much of your payments we refund depends on how far ahead of the hire you cancel:
Cancellation and refund terms to be confirmed, for example notice periods and how much of the booking deposit is refunded.
Whether the security deposit is refunded in full on any cancellation before the hire starts.
7. Collection and return
At collection, we inspect the car with you and record its condition, and you sign to confirm it. Please bring your driving licence. Return the car on the agreed date and time, in the same condition apart from fair wear and tear. We inspect it with you again on return.
Late returns, returning the car with less fuel than at collection, and excessive cleaning may be charged as set out in your hire agreement. If you need to return early or late, contact us as soon as you can.
8. Damage and the security deposit
You are responsible for the car during the hire. If the car is damaged, lost or stolen during the hire, you may be liable for the cost up to the limit set out in your hire agreement. We may keep part or all of the security deposit towards these costs and will tell you what we have deducted and why.
Insurance cover and damage excess to be confirmed.
9. Using the car
- Only drivers named on the booking may drive the car.
- Drive lawfully and take reasonable care of the car and its keys.
- You are responsible for fines, penalty charges, tolls and congestion or emissions charges incurred during the hire. We may pass on your details to the issuing authority.
- Any other restrictions to confirm, for example smoking, pets, taking the car abroad and mileage allowances.
10. Our responsibility to you
We provide cars that are roadworthy and in good condition. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable when you booked.
11. Complaints and law
If you are unhappy, please contact us and we will try to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
See our privacy policy for how we use your personal information.
